Windows Phone 7 – What Microsoft needs to do to become competitive and survive in the Mobile Phone Market
It’s an amazing operating system with a really unique easy-to-use user interface that’s a real pleasure to use. Mark Coppock said that “Microsoft has built a great ecosystem with Xbox Live, Zune Marketplace, and Windows Live integration; with only a few tweaks here and there, it could easily be the best ecosystem on the market”. And I will agree with that.
Enable SSL locally on a Windows PC with IIS 7
It is a straightforward process as long as you know the traps…
Step 1: If Skype is running exit it (you should quit Skype or kill the process not just close the window since Skype will still keep running in the background). For some reason Skype blocks port 443 and IIS is not able to use it since they are listening to skype. (That also applies if you install IIS for the first time, you need to make sure that Skype is not running because it also blocks port 80).
How to sync Outlook 2010 with Android phones
Recently I have upgraded my phone to an Android HTC Desire device (since my HTC HD2 was stolen). Since I use Outlook a lot, I wanted to have my Calendar synced with my mobile, as I did before with all of my Windows Mobile devices and with iPhone as well.
For some reason however, the htcSync software supplied doesn’t work with Outlook 2010. So after trying to find the best solution, I ended up synchronizing Outlook with Google Calendar and that automatically synchronizes with my HTC.
However since google sync at the moment doesn’t support Outlook 2010, I found a link with a small ‘hack’ that corrects this problem. After that the synchronization works perfectly.
