You thought that Star Trek WARP space travelling was a fantasy? Well you were wrong …

Saturday, September 22, 2012
Dr Ioannis Syrigos @ 07:09 PM

I am sure most of people who love science would have watched the Legacy of Star Trek series.

One of the advanced technological concepts mentioned in the series is the WARP engine which allows travelling with speeds greater than the speed of light.

Well, recently NASA scientists think that ‘warp drive is realistic possibility and that in the far future humans could regularly travel faster than the speed of light’.

Stunning study on Genetically Modified food, but …

Thursday, September 20, 2012
Dr Ioannis Syrigos @ 09:09 PM

A French study has recently shown that one of the bestselling brands of GM corn can cause tumours and multiple organ damage.

Specifically in this study, rats fed a lifelong diet of GM corn, suffered tumours and multiple organ damage. In the test group 50% of the males and 70% of the females died prematurely compared to the 30% and 20% in the control group.

We can understand that such a claim has sparked a series on events among scientists and anyone related to GM food industry.

Obviously Monsanto commented about the research as ‘unsubstantiated results’.

Is your Windows slow? Disable some of the startup programs …

Wednesday, September 19, 2012
Dr Ioannis Syrigos @ 07:09 PM
We all get to the point where Windows is getting slower and slower. With Windows 7 that was dramatically improved, but nevertheless it is still there!
Whenever Windows starts, it is not only the windows software that is loaded. Every time you install any new software, most of the times a few processes are installed by the new software that will start at the same time as Windows start and you are not notified about that during the installation of the software (most of the times).
As time pass, and you install more and more new applications, more processes start at the same time with Windows. Each of those applications consumes CPU, memory and system resources, therefore making your Windows experience a gradually ‘slower’ and ‘slower’ experience.

Tsipras 2nd, Farage 7th in a list of the most dangerous politicians in Europe

Tuesday, September 18, 2012
Dr Ioannis Syrigos @ 07:09 AM

It’s really funny (or perhaps not!) how Der Spiegel has compiled a list of the 10 more dangerous politicians in Europe. What do they mean by dangerous? Well maybe the fact that they threaten and challenge the interest of a few, threaten the ‘fake’ stability of the Euro and therefore the big guys will lose money.

We do not remember our past

Monday, September 17, 2012
Dr Ioannis Syrigos @ 07:09 AM
It looks that history tends to repeat itself over and over again. One of the main reasons for that probably is that we do not know/remember our history not only our individual history but the history of our country as well as the world history.

The result is that unavoidably we tend to repeat the same mistakes again and again without learning our lessons.

And here is where the quote or George Santayana fits perfectly:

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

Is the US converting into Communism?

Sunday, September 16, 2012
Dr Ioannis Syrigos @ 08:09 AM

US are proud of being a democracy, and they are also proud of been religious. The original US Constitution and especially the First amendment was a piece of Art, promoting freedom, growth and human rights. However every day we see more and more rights of the American Citizens to fade away and steps taken to the exact opposite direction, violating the Constitution again and again.

If you put things into a perspective it is scary to realize what is happening and how a democracy is being converted to Communism, with the consensus of the people.

The US Dollar ‘game’

Saturday, September 15, 2012
Dr Ioannis Syrigos @ 09:09 PM

How is it possible a country with $1.16 trillion deficit to be considered as an economy that grows? And the deficit is more than 1 trillion for the fourth consequent year.

Similar situation but with smaller numbers exists in Europe.

And the solution  is printing more and more money out of thin air. Fed and ECB follow exactly the same path. And instead of solving the problem, they make it grow bigger and bigger. The gap between social classes grows bigger and bigger.

Lost pyramids found in Egypt?

Tuesday, September 4, 2012
Dr Ioannis Syrigos @ 11:09 PM

Two new pyramid complexes might have been found in Egypt. Egyptian authorities, archaeologists and researchers have been informed and investigations have begun.

The exact location of the pyramids is kept secret for obvious reasons. Imagine the exact location to be posted on the web, thousands of treasure hunters and all kind of good and bad people will be there in no time. Sad but true.

Are you addicted to Internet?

Saturday, September 1, 2012
Dr Ioannis Syrigos @ 06:09 PM

Internet Addiction (IAD) is becoming more and more of a problem lately.

What we mean by IAD? Internet overuse or pathological computer use or overdoing it in general with your computer and/or internet. Nowadays more and more people choose to spend more time on Facebook, or web surfing or emailing rather than directly communicating with people, exercising their body, or doing other more productive activities like going for walks, reading books, doing something creative, having a non-computer hobby, going out with friends etc.

Euro under Pressure

Thursday, August 30, 2012
Dr Ioannis Syrigos @ 09:08 AM

I am not an economist, but common sense dictates that things are not going well in the Euro area. The inflatable money is gathered in the hands of a few, the gap between rich and poor is getting wider and wider and the financial markets are behaving like crazy.

Even the countries that are supposedly doing well, in reality either they don’t or they are not as much affected yet.

Major economists all over the world ring the bells of a major financial destruction.
