Planet with four suns discovered
We used to watch movies showing planets with multiple suns, and although theoretically this would be difficult to happen due to extremely complicated gravitational forces, it looks that a team of amateur and professional astronomers has just discovered one!
The planet is located about 5000 light years away from Earth and is orbiting two suns and being orbited by two distant stars. It is intriguing to investigate further how such a complex system can exist and what the implications on the planet are.
The amateur astronomers did the discovery using planethunters.org, a program led by Yale University, where volunteers look for signs of new planets.
A task like this would be difficult for a computer program, so human pattern recognition is still superior in that matter.
The planet was named PH1 in honour of Planet Hunters!
